Established in 1988, the Community Music Division is a part of DePaul University's School of Music. The mission of the Division is to provide the highest quality music instruction to all interested individuals regardless of age, ability, cultural or national origin, or financial circumstance.

Now in its 19th year, the Community Music Division (CMD) serves more than 650 students in the Chicago area with an outstanding professional faculty of over 60 artist-educators.

The school's comprehensive offerings include private lessons, musicianship and instrumental classes, performance ensembles, workshops and student recitals. Several collaborative programs are offered in partnership with The Chicago Children's Choir and The Youth Campus Pathways to Development Program. The Community Music Division is a certified institutional member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts, the pre-eminent organization in the United States that has fostered the growth of community music and arts schools since 1937.
