School of Public Service
DePaul's School of Public Service, the largest graduate program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, was established in 1970 and became its own school in 2007. Faculty members teach leaders of nonprofit and government organizations critical thinking and policy analysis as well as practical management skills valued in the public and nonprofit sectors.
The School of Public Service (SPS) offers two graduate degrees in a completely online format: The first is its flagship degree—the M.S. in Public Service Management, the second is the Master of Public Administration (MPA) with a specialization in International Public Management. Both online degrees use the same curriculum and faculty as their face-to-face versions. Faculty present course material pairing an innovative mix of asynchronous learning based on discussion forums (using the Blackboard course management system) with faculty-directed real-time synchronous learning with video and audio (using Wimba Live Classroom technology). In addition, online students may register for all SPS courses offered in Chicago and abroad—with permission of their advisors.
