The customized Bachelor of Arts degree program at SNL is defined by fifty statements of competence. Taken together these statements describe the characteristics of a liberally educated adult prepared to engage in learning as a lifelong pursuit. In order to graduate, a student must demonstrate all fifty competencies.
Each student works with a faculty mentor and a professional advisor to determine competencies already mastered and to plan a program for learning the remaining competencies. Students may fulfill competencies in a variety of ways, including demonstrating learning from previous work/school/community/personal experience, doing coursework in SNL or other accredited colleges, and undertaking independent learning projects.
