CHICAGO PUBLIC SCHOOLS COLLEGE BRIDGE PROGRAM

The Chicago Public Schools (CPS) College Bridge Program provides high-achieving CPS juniors and seniors the opportunity to take classes at DePaul and earn college credit while still in high school.

Who is Eligible?
Chicago Public Schools students with a minimum 3.0 (B) grade point average, 90 percent attendance rate and counselor recommendation. Applicants' coursework and extracurricular activities will also be considered.

How to Apply
Students need to fill out the DePaul University College Bridge application and return it to their CPS high school bridge coordinator for completion. (A hard copy of the application is also available from the CPS high school bridge coordinator.)

Applications for the Summer and Fall Quarter are due Wednesday, May 21, 2008.

The application along with an official transcript and counselor recommendation must be submitted before the deadline to the CPS high school bridge coordinator. Completed applications can be mailed or faxed to the Office of Community Outreach at the address below. (Please note that official transcripts must be mailed when applications are faxed.)

How much does it cost?
Chicago Public Schools covers the costs of the classes so they are free to CPS students who qualify. CPS also covers the costs for books for the classes selected and may reimburse students for public transportation. Note: Not all of the students get reimbursed.

Where is DePaul located?
DePaul offers CPS Bridge classes at the university’s Loop and Lincoln Park Campuses. Locations are listed within the High School/College Bridge course offering information.

When do classes meet?
Most classes meet in the evening, one night a week from 5:45 - 9:00 p.m. Some classes may meet in the late afternoon twice a week. Check the course offerings for specific meeting times.

When do classes begin?
DePaul offers classes quarterly. Fall Quarter begins in early September, Winter Quarter begins in early January and Spring Quarter starts in mid to late March. For important term dates please visit The Academic Calendar at: http://oaa.depaul.edu/what/calendar.jsp.
