Gwyn Friend

Associate Vice President for Marketing Communications


Gwyn Friend, associate vice president, has led Marketing Communications at DePaul University since 1999. Marketing Communications works with departments and college offices to plan, create and implement a variety of communication initiatives, particularly in the areas of prospective student recruitment and alumni communications. Her area is also responsible for advertising, DePaul's Web site, DePaul Magazine, several college alumni newsletters and other marketing and communications projects.

Gwyn's team has won awards from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District V, the University and College Designers Association (UCDA), and The Communicator for excellence in advertising and publications.

Gwyn has 30 years experience in university communications and marketing, including art direction, editorial oversight, advertising, media placement and market research. She holds a bachelor's degree in English from DePaul University and has completed additional course work at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She also is a member of the American Marketing Association and the International Association of Business Communicators.
