Dedicated in 1897 by the Most Rev. Patrick Feehan, First Archbishop of Chicago. Archbishop Feehan urged Vincentian Fathers to open a new college on a site adjoining the church. The first college classes commenced in 1898, in the refurbished Ellege Building at Webster and Osgood (now Kenmore Avenue).
